Advice Services

Empowering You with Personalised Guidance

Navigating the complexities of sensory loss demands more than just information, it requires compassionate, tailored advice that empowers you to make informed decisions. Our Advice Services are designed to meet your unique needs through dedicated, one-on-one engagements with experienced advocates and advisers.

Personalised Advice

We understand that every journey is unique. Our advisers are fully qualified, not volunteers who have undertaken basic half-day courses; they listen carefully to your experiences and challenges, providing bespoke guidance that is both practical and empowering. This personalised approach ensures that the advice you receive directly addresses your circumstances and fosters proactive solutions.

One on One Appointments with Advocates/Advisers

Our commitment to you is personal. By offering individualised appointments, we create a space where you can explore your questions and concerns without feeling rushed. During these sessions, experienced advocates work closely with you, clarifying options, addressing obstacles, and outlining clear, manageable steps toward your goals.

Tailored Advice on Managing Sensory Loss

Living with sensory loss involves unique challenges that require targeted strategies. Our sessions go beyond general advice to provide practical tips and tools that can help you navigate day-to-day challenges. Whether you’re looking for strategies to enhance your independence or ways to improve accessibility in your environment, our guidance is tailored to meet your specific needs.

Support for Family Members and Caregivers

We recognise that the impact of sensory loss extends to families and caregivers as well. Our services provide support and advice tailored for those who stand by you, helping them understand the challenges and learn best practices for effective support. By empowering the entire network around you, we foster an environment of shared strength and resilience.

Specialist Programmes and Support

Living with sensory loss comes with unique obstacles, but it should never mean facing them alone. Our specialised programmes are designed to empower individuals, offering dedicated support for navigating systems, securing independence, and promoting wellbeing. From mediation and conflict resolution to workplace advocacy and accessibility training, we ensure that our services address real world needs in ways that make a difference.

Consultancy and Professional Development

Inclusion doesn’t happen by accident; it requires knowledge, strategy, and action. That’s why we partner with professionals, organisations, and service providers to improve accessibility, compliance, and best practices in supporting individuals with sensory loss. Whether through training, policy guidance, how to ensure you're making reasonable adjustments in the workplaceneeding support with navigating Access to Work, or bespoke consultancy, we help create environments where accessibility isn’t just an afterthought, it’s a priority.

Advocacy Services: Championing Rights, Access and Inclusion

Navigating systems designed without accessibility in mind can be complex, but no one should have to do it alone. Our Level 3 and 4 and legally qualified Advocates provide personalised, expert support, ensuring that individuals with sensory loss, their families, or care providers have the guidance and representation they need to overcome challenges and assert their rights.

Individual Advocacy & Mentoring

We offer dedicated, one-on-one mentoring support to individuals with sensory loss, helping them access vital resources, advocate for their needs, and navigate everyday barriers.

  • Ensuring fair treatment in employment, housing, and social services.

  • Providing guidance to individuals in articulating their needs and receiving adequate support.

  • Helping with applications for financial assistance, disability benefits, and accessibility provisions.

Healthcare and Social Services Navigation

Understanding, accessing, and navigating healthcare, residential care, nursing homes, and social support can feel overwhelming. We help individuals overcome these hurdles and support them in understanding medical processes and decisions through qualified interpreters and deaf awareness, ensuring they receive the services they need.

  • Assistance with attending appointments, securing referrals, understanding medical decisions, and reinforcing the importance of communication in environments where individuals with hearing loss are not accustomed to engaging with those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

  • Advocacy for inclusive healthcare practices and improved accessibility within the system.

  • Guidance in navigating adult social care frameworks, ensuring rights are protected, including a transitional pathway from child services into adult services.

Legal Advocacy & Equal Access to Justice

Access to justice is a fundamental right, yet individuals with sensory loss often encounter barriers in legal and judicial processes. We work to ensure that everyone has fair and accessible legal support.

  • Advocacy for individuals facing discrimination, safeguarding their rights in legal matters.

  • Support and guidance with police interactions, court proceedings, and legal aid applications.

  • Mediation services to facilitate fair and accessible dispute resolution.

Supporting Families and Educational Advocacy

Families play a crucial role in ensuring children with sensory loss receive the right support in education. They should be given equal access to the educational services, supported by qualified professionals. We provide guidance and advocacy to help them secure appropriate provisions, navigate complex policies, and advocate effectively.

  • Assistance and guidance with securing Special Educational Needs (SEN) support and accommodations.

  • Guidance for parents in engaging with schools, attending meetings, and securing tailored interventions.

  • Support for young people transitioning between school stages or preparing for higher education and apprenticeships.

Group Advocacy: Amplifying Voices, Driving Change

Advocacy is stronger when voices unite. Our Group Advocacy initiatives ensure that individuals with sensory loss are not only heard but actively shaping policies and accessibility improvements that impact their lives. By working collectively, we empower communities, influence decisionmakers, and collaborate with likeminded organisations to create lasting change.

Representation for Groups of People with Sensory Loss

We bring together individuals with sensory loss to advocate for collective needs, ensuring that their experiences and challenges are represented in meaningful conversations at local, regional, and national levels.

  • Supporting groups in discussions with government bodies, local authorities, and service providers.

  • Raising awareness of shared concerns, from healthcare access to employment rights.

  • Strengthening self advocacy by equipping individuals with the tools to engage with policymakers.

Campaigns for Policy Change and Improved Accessibility

Systemic change doesn’t happen overnight, but with the right advocacy, real progress can be achieved. We lead campaigns to challenge barriers, influence legislation, and promote inclusive practices across industries.

  • Pushing for policy reforms that enhance accessibility, safeguard rights, and expand services.

  • Raising public awareness and mobilising communities to demand better inclusion.

  • Holding decision makers accountable to ensure commitments to legislation and accessibility are met.

Collaboration with Other Advocacy Organisations

We believe in the power of partnerships. By working alongside other like-minded advocacy groups, charities, and community leaders, we maximise our impact and create a united force for change.

  • Strengthening networks that support individuals with sensory loss in different areas of life.

  • Sharing expertise, resources, and best practices to improve advocacy strategies.

  • Forming alliances to tackle systemic issues through joint initiatives and coordinated action.
